37. So Mote It Be

Much strength I ask to send us soon
From you as silent as glowing moon
On my life I plea to this
A remnant of my loves last kiss
Protect him now from forces tall
He must not know of this at all
Such pride has he within his heart
It tears at mine for us to part
But things have changed and shadows grow
With this a seed of hope I sow
Upon my life I grant him peace
And for such evil powers to cease
Protect him now I beg of thee
As I will so mote it be

Author's Comments

Nora Roberts tends to be fond of Irish Romance, and in a couple of her books a character will envoke an "As I Will So Mote It Be" prayer to save their loved one, or to just ask for strength to survive whatever evil is against them. I like them so much that I tried to right my own for this month's BAI contest of Silence and Toasters. I think it turned out quite well.

that's the thing about dreams...they're fantasies.

really a dream...

What can I say? It's as if Nora herself wrote the verse. Excellent, excellent work!
